Rules & Privacy

How to play

  • Each of the seven WIAA 11-player divisions is its own 32-team bracket. Enter one, a few, or all seven.
  • Pick a winner for every game through the State Final at Camp Randall, plus a tiebreaker: total points scored in that division's State Final.
  • Picks lock Friday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. Central, an hour before the first kickoff. After that, everyone's picks are public.
  • Every saved bracket appears on its division's leaderboard, finished or not. Blank games can't earn points, so fill in all 31 picks and the tiebreaker.
  • Follow players to build your own Following leaderboard.
  • It's free. No entry fee, and no prizes unless we announce them separately with official rules.

160Final

A perfect division bracket is worth 800 points. Ties break by the tiebreaker (closest to the actual State Final total), then by most points still possible.

How the WIAA bracket works

  • The top 32 teams in each division make the field. The four best are the #1 seeds, the next four the #2 seeds, and so on down to #8.
  • Each division has four sectionals of eight. Level 1 pairs 1 vs 8, 4 vs 5, 3 vs 6 and 2 vs 7, and the higher seed hosts.
  • Levels 2 (Oct. 30) and 3 (Nov. 6) crown a champion in each sectional. In Level 4 (Nov. 13), Sectionals 1 and 2 meet in one state semifinal and 3 and 4 in the other.
  • State Finals at Camp Randall: Divisions 7–4 on Thursday, Nov. 19 and Divisions 3–1 on Friday, Nov. 20.
  • The 8-player playoffs aren't part of this game.

Who can play

Anyone 13 or older. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13, we delete it.

Keep it clean

  • Usernames must be family-friendly: no profanity, slurs, harassment, or anything sexual or hateful.
  • Don't pretend to be someone else, including a real player, coach, school, team or the WIAA.
  • No bots or scripts, and don't try to break, overload or get around the site's protections.

Our calls are final

  • We can rename, hide, ban or delete any account, username or bracket that breaks these rules, or for any other reason.
  • If a seed, result or score is wrong, or a game is forfeited, moved or canceled, we'll fix it and recalculate the standings.
  • We can change these rules, the scoring or the schedule before picks lock. After that, only to keep the game fair or match what happened on the field.
  • Our decisions on scoring, tiebreakers, disputes and accounts are final.

Privacy

  • What we collect: your username, password and recovery code (stored only in one-way scrambled form), your favorite team if you pick one, your brackets, and who you follow. We don't ask for your email, real name, phone number or location.
  • Public: your username, favorite team, follower counts, leaderboard results and your picks (after lock). Everything else is private.
  • Spam protection: we keep a scrambled version of your IP address for rate limits, and Cloudflare Turnstile runs a quick human check on sign-up and password recovery.
  • Who handles it: Vercel hosts the site and Supabase stores accounts and picks. They process data only to run the site.
  • Cookies: only what's needed to keep you signed in. No ads or advertising trackers, and we never sell your information.
  • Your choices: change your username or team anytime, or delete your account and brackets from your account settings. Deleted accounts are gone for good.
  • Parents: if your child under 13 made an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

The fine print

  • This is a free fan game provided "as is." We don't promise the site will always be up or that brackets and results will never be lost or wrong.
  • To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any damages from using (or not being able to use) the site.
  • You're responsible for your username and for keeping your password and recovery code safe.
  • We may update this page, and playing after an update means you accept it.
  • WIHSFB Bracket Challenge is an independent, fan-run game, not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) or any school. School names and colors are used only to identify teams.
